GOP does not represent M.Moore's America. Duh!
So Michael Moore showed up to the GOP Convention. Well,
no surprise Michael Moore has already wrote a negative
post against the convention. Amazing since he only spent
an hour there, did not talk to anyone but the press and
then made a quick exit after J. McCain took a shot at
him for his predictably inaccurate film. (note : I will
not call it a documentary, it's not)

So let's do a short list of why the GOP isn't M.Moore's
party.

Personal responsibility
(Moore avoids this like the Plague. It would mean
he would have to shave/bath more often to start.
Plus re-edit his film to remove all the distortions
,so it would be 30 minutes long and lose 3 million)

Freedom of speech
(GWB did not threaten theater owners with lawsuits)

Lower taxes
( You can bet, Moore is looking for every tax loop hole
he can use to keep as much as he can from the 100
million dollar film but you are not paying your
"Fair Share".)

Reduced Government
(With 1/4 of the population now working for State,
Local and Federal Government. Most of them Union
workers, many who saw his film. He can't lose them as
an audience.)

Strong Defense
(Moore is an elitist, who thinks America is the
aggressor in any conflict, regardless of the truth.)

Drug War
(Moore believes this is futile and a waste of money.)

And most damning of all:
Supporting Marriage as a cornerstone of our Society.
After all in his opinion, our society is the problem.

So in my opinion , no great loss.

Why we don't get in to wars with the "big" counties
The simple answer is we had and have the upper hand.
While the Democratic party has railed against the use
military since the 50's. The Dem's have gone along with
the any weapons development and deployment, when it suits
them (i.e. Votes). But let's get down to brass tacks.

The US has 13 Carrier groups of which 7 are ready (i.e.
24 hours notice) or deployed at anytime. Our closest
competitor in this realm are the British (3).

We have the best and the most advanced Submarine force
in the world. The Russians have more sub's but theirs are
too easily tracked. And I will not get into their problems
with shortening the lives of their own sailors.

Stealth or how to make a 90 Ft long jet look like a 12 Ft
ultralight. You got to love the guys at Skunk Works. Living
for 11 years at and around Nellis AFB; I got to see their
work first hand.

M1A1/2 Abrams Tanks, the US army has 3000+ M1A1
and more than 4000 M1A2 tanks. Of which less than a
1000 were deployed in either Gulf War.

Anti-missile technology, while the effectiveness of a
Patriot battery may be debated. The fact is the system
works and no one else has them.

B-52's and B-1's with advanced strategic or conventional
weapons; the best overall bombing platforms made to date.

Communications (satellites, GPS, lasers, microwave, Loran)
While everyone enjoys using their cell phones, comm traffic
can make or break any engagement by tipping your hand
to the enemy.

Battle Planning, the US plan anticipates being numerically
outnumbered. Which means you train your people to
expect that situation. You devise places for those
strategies to be put into action and you train as many
and as often as possible. Then you take the best and
send them to advanced schools and throw even
more at them.

And if your going to talk strategy, then you get to the
discussion of MAD. We are the preeminent power. We
have it all and the delivery systems to put them
where we want, when we want them there.

But our biggest strength is our population, you have seen
the numerous TV News spots showing Arabs shooting
AK-47's into the air. But the fact is the US is one of the
most heavily armed population in the world. While you
can't get most Democrats to admit they own a gun,
guns are not only in the hands of Republicans.

Which bring us to Diplomacy. It is in the best interest
of any other nation to not give the US people a reason
to fight. This is best done through honest negotiation
and compromise. This is why we didn't wait for
Germany or France to join. We told the world that
this was "the" deadline and then acted on it. If you
can not understand that, than I can't help you. The
World can understand, the what and why, of what
the US has done in Iraq. The problem is those who
do not want there to be a USA will never understand.

Once more into the breach, dear friends
This is for all of you without 20+ years of Naval experience
(and that includes J. Kerry) There is only one type of ship
in the US arsenal that routinely operates without an escort.
That type of ship, my friends and potential enemies, is
Submarines. Swift boats are run in groups as few as 2 to
as many the squadron (like airplanes) has available. Those
of you who watched Apocalypse Now; that was a movie,
I.E. fiction. The Navy does not send single lightly armed
and armored vessels up river by themselves. Or at least
not without close air support available as a back up.

Commanders of a vessel DO NOT shoot the weapons on
a mission. He might want to, if the sailor who would have
manned the weapons were dead. But his first duty would
be to commanding the ship and completing the mission.

Commanders of a vessel DO NOT have another sailor
abandon his post to film the commander's exploits under
fire. There are only a maximum of 5 people on a Swift
boat, all of them have a battle station to man. None of them
are extraneous to the vessel's mission and only a fool
would think they were.

The last two statements are also part of the OCS training
that J. Kerry received but must have forgotten or most
likely actually followed. But I am pretty sure re-enacting
battles, in the same area the battle took place, is not in the
OCS training J. Kerry had either. Which speaks volumes
to his ability to make reasonable decisions in the field.

lesson finished.

Loose lips sink ships
A phrase given meaning in WWII. John Kerry's testimony was used
by the Vietnamese to coerce US POW's into admitting to crimes
they did not commit. How many POW's had their resolve damaged
by this testimony. How many times were these POW's forced to
listen to this confession by one of their own. I know there are
those of you who wish to give Kerry a pass on this and other
issues that deal with Veitnam. But remember this testimony
occurred while Kerry was a US Navy Reserve Officer. A point
I can be sure was not lost on the Vietmanese or the POW's; who
where being told this is what America thinks of them.

History and those who change it
Bush served in the National Guard, Kerry served in
the US Navy (as did I).

One who claimed to be somewhere that he wasn't
(Cambodia), as found in previously published
documents by his own hand.

One who re-filed for a Purple Heart after it was
denied the first time.

One who claimed that he committed atrocities, by
his own testimony, yet failed to give specifics.
(which would mean that he had to admit to
committing a crime; he is a lawyer, after all.)

One who claimed that he threw away his medals
(or ribbons) that his country bestowed on him.

One who meet with the leaders of a country that,
we were at war with (Vietnam) in France in order
to provide them legitimacy to their point of view.

One who testified in Congress of atrocities committed
by US Armed forces. Only to have those same
speeches used against US POW's, in an effort to
get them to admit to committing similar atrocities.

One who has his picture posted up in the Museum
dedicate to those who helped oust "US Imperialism".

One who claims that he has many regrets of his service
in the military. Who now tells us that this is the pivotal
point in his life by which he should be judged as worthy
of being president.

One who omitted his application for a deferral of service
to the Draft board, that was denied, before volunteering
to go to OCS (Officer Candidate School).

One who thought he heard that fateful speech on
Christmas '68 given by President Nixon. (Note:Nixon
was elected Nov 2, 1968. He was not in office nor did
he give a radio speech about Vietnam until Mar '69)

Now let's get to the current items;
One attempted to cut the intelligence budget by 6 billion
(that's a "B") dollars after 9/11/01 not once but for
two years running.

One who, in 2001, then asked that same country to have
8 additional medals granted and documented in his service
record. These medals are for the same war that he had
protested against and had also discarded previous
medals over.
(FYI: that is what a DD-215 is for)

One who meet with , shook hands with and had him
seated next to X-Pres. J. Carter during the national
convention. The man who directed a movie, who's
sole purpose was to denigrate his political opponent.

One who after being nominated to the top of his parties
presidential ticket. Has not given up his seat in the
Senate in order for those in his own state to have proper
representation.

This is the short list.

The lesson is those who refuse to learn from history are
doomed to repeat it.

We had a guy in office in 1976, who was perceived as a
bumbling clumsy oaf. We were offered an alternative,
someone who ran as a war hero and a man with a vision.
He won. When he took office, the US had single digit
inflation, single digit unemployment and single digit
interest rates. By the time he left office, all of these were
double digit (16, 12 & 19) and American hostages had
spent over a year in captivity. Of course you know who
he is, after all he was seated next to Michael Moore.

introduction
Hi All,
Mom said always start a discussion on a peaceful note. (something that only took 30+ years to take) I started this Blog to let others know that you are not alone. I find myself wondering how we got here? But the past does not matter without context, you can't chart a new course if you didn't chart the shoals encountered up to this point. So today I say Hi, tommorrow we work on business of getting out of this mess.
